Men's Basketball comes up clutch against Saint Elizabeth

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. - The Bryn Athyn College men's basketball team secured a key victory over Saint Elizabeth on Saturday, 88-72

Inside the Box Score
  • Will Little turned in a dominant performance on Saturday, going for 23 points (on 9-of-15 shooting), 3 rebounds, 2 steals and 3 3-pointers made.
  • Jamal Cannady Jr. ignited the offense with 21 points and 6 assists. 
  • Anthony Burr was a great initiator himself, going for a team-high 8 assists along with 5 points and 4 rebounds 
  • Jaryn McCann battled through foul trouble to amass 10 points, 7 rebounds and 4 steals.
  • Isaiah Cureton knocked down three triples en route to 13 points, 4 rebounds, 1 block and 1 steal.

How it happened
  • The Lions and Eagles spent the majority of the first half exchanging buckets. The teams were tied as late as the 7:51 mark. 
  • Then Bryn Athyn went on a 16-6 run fueled by Cannady Jr, who hit some tough shots and set up his teammates for easy looks. 
  • Saint Elizabeth fought back with a 10-0 run, beating Bryn Athyn down the court with good transition offense.
  • The Lions closed the half with some quick offense to go up 44-39.
  • The second half was even more running and gunning, and the Lions feasted in that environment. They built up an early lead and never surrendered it. 
  • In the final 13 minutes, the closest Saint Elizabeth got was within 9 points. 
  • Bryn Athyn would go on to win 88-72.

"This was an amazing game for us. Our execution of the scout was on point. We play an imperfect game with imperfect people but we kept tapping the rock until it broke. This was a collective effort. Will Little showed great individual shot making in timely moments for us. I'm proud of our group in a must win situation." - Head coach Sean Westerlund.

  • Bryn Athyn and Saint Elizabeth are now both 4-6 in CSAC play, putting them in a 3-way tie with Clarks Summit for the final conference playoff spot.
