BRYN ATHYN, Pa. - The women's basketball team completed its second straight season sweep of Keystone College on Tuesday, defeating the Giants 66-45.
Inside the Box Score
- Zhymani Smith nearly got a double-double with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists.
- Kaylia Duncan contributed 13 points, 5 assists and two late-game daggers to ensure the win for the Lions.
- Alexa Osafo-Mensah out-muscled the Giants en route to 11 points and 15 rebounds.
How it Happened
- Offense was not easy to come by for anyone early on. Through six minutes, each team had scored just four points.
- Bryn Athyn got its transition game going after that, as it closed the opening quarter on a 8-0 run.
- Its defense continued to lock down Keystone in the second quarter, only allowing six more points before halftime. BAC would go into the half up 24-10.
- Giants looked to have something figured out in the third, closing the gap to nine, but Lions were quick to fight back and go up 13 heading into the final period.
- Bryn Athyn went on to win by 21.
Coach's Corner
- "It was a really big win for us against a well-coached team with a high powered offense. We knew our defense had to be superb, and once again it was. We got big stops, rebounded the ball, and handled their pressure to score with composure. The rebounding numbers were a huge factor, led by Alexa Osafo-Mensah with 15 as part of her double-double. Kaylia Duncan showed once again the toughness of a 5th year senior leader, and then everyone else did what they do best. When you have toughness and have confidence in yourself and your teammates, good things happen." - Head Coach Travis Ponton.
Notes
- Bryn Athyn out-rebounded Keystone 77-33.
- Lions are now 10-4 in the United East, keeping sole possession of 3rd place in the Skye Division.
