Men's basketball goes toe to toe with Gettysburg

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. - The Bryn Athyn College men's basketball team fell short in an overtime thriller against visiting Gettsyburg College on Tuesday; 77-72

Inside the Box Score
  • Jalen Jackson was as good as it gets: 25points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals while shooting 100% from behind the arc.
  • Malik Carson was vital to the operation, totaling 11 points and toughness off the bench
  • Will Little proved reliable with 9 points and 8 rebounds.
  • Isaac Marshall was a beast on the boards tallying 10 rebounds on the night to go along with 6 points
  • Jalen Parker contributed 10 points and 3 rebounds on the night. 
How it happened
  • The Lions came out roaring with a 14-7 run to open up the game.
  • Jackson and Carson did some heavy lifting to keep the Lions afloat.
  • Bryn Athyn would hold a 10 point lead halfway through the first half; 24-14.  
  • Gettysburg cut the difference to 31-27 going into halftime.
  • A three by Jakir Hampton and lay-up by Parker appeared to show the lions still on the attack. 
  • Gettysburg then went on a 13-7 run to take the lead 45-43 right around the fourteen minute mark. 
  • And-1 layup and FT conversion by Jackson would give Bryn back the lead. 
  • Both teams continued to trade buckets as Gettysburg refused to go away.
  • With a minute left; the visitors scored a layup to force the game to overtime. 
  • In overtime the Lions were gassed subsequently going 2-8 from the field while Gettysburg went 100% which was the difference maker. 
  • Gettysburg went on to win; 77-72.

"I thought today really showed the potential of our group. We played a great 38 out of 45 minutes. We still need to be better at finishing possessions and limiting live ball turnovers.   • Bryn Athyn's bench outscored the visitors's bench 33-4. 
  • Bryn Athyn also won the battle with points in the paint 40-36 and points off turnovers 26-15.
  • Bryn Athyn drops to 1-3 on the season.
