Men's Basketball fall in season opener

SCRANTON, Pa. - The Men's Basketball team traveled to University of Scranton for their season opening tip-off tournament to take on Marywood University and fell 88-56.

  • Bryn Athyn started the game off on a positive note by scoring the first two points of the game. 
  • Marywood would control things from there jumping out on a 24-8 run through the first 10 minutes to build a 24-10 lead.
  • Lions would settle in to get stops and play even basketball the rest of the half and head into break down 14.
  • Marywood would enter the half with a 36-22 lead. 
  • Bryn Athyn cut the lead to 10 right out of half
  • Marywood answered the quick run by the Lions to build a 21 point lead forcing Bryn into a timeout.

  • "Our defensive discipline and attention to detail was extremely poor today. We got what we deserve. We showed no effort and no level of compete on the defensive end of the floor. Offensively, we went through the motions. It's a long season, but we know the issues we're battling and we have another opportunity to get better tomorrow," Coach West said.
