Men's Basketball bounce back against Medgar Evers

SCRANTON, Pa. - The Men's Basketball team continued play in the Scranton Invitational Tip-off. The men led from start to finish to take the 71-64 win over Medgar Evers.

  • Will Little continued where he left off with a 21 points and 7 rebounds performance.
  • Jakir Hampton contributed 17 points while shooting a team high 50% from the field.
  • Jalen Jackson had a balanced night with 15 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assist
How it Happened
  • The Lions came out eager to make a statement by going on an 8-0 early on. 
  • Fueled by several forced turnovers and quick transition points; Bryn Athyn quickly held a 23-9 lead by the halfway mark of the first half. 
  • Medgar Evers were able to cut into the lead with a quick layup and jump shot. 
  • The Lions continued the pressure going bucket for bucket with the Cougars.
  • Within the 4 minute mark; the Cougars were able to get the lead down to 8. 
  • Bryn Athyn held an 11 point lead at the break.
  • In the beginning of the 2nd half both teams came out trading buckets. 
  • The Lions and Cougars then went on a three minute scoring drought. 
  • Medgar Evers made a run off a barrage of three-pointers cut the lead to 5 within the 8 minute mark.
  • Jalen Cary would respond immediately with a 3 of his own pushing the lead back to 8. 
  • A fast break dunk by Will Little and clutch free throws by Jalen Jackson in the last few minutes would clinch the game.

  • "Always great to win a game. We took strides as a team today, but we're far from where we need to be at if we want to achieve the goals we have for the season. Excited to hit the practice court to get better."  Coach West said.
Notes
  • Bryn Athyn converted 27 points off forced turnovers. 
  • Lions shot 40% from the field and 80% from the free throw line.
  • Will Little was named to the All-Tournament team

  • The Lions travel to Chestertown, MD to face Washington College on Saturday November 16th. Tip-off is scheduled for 3pm.
