Men's Basketball nabs another clutch win

MORRISTOWN, N.J. - The Lions came out winners of yet another dogfight on Saturday, defeating the Saint Elizabeth Eagles 82-80.

Inside the Box Score
  • Jalen Parker brute forced his way to 23 points on 61% shooting.
  • Isaac Marshall was a two-way asset with 17 points, 3 3-pointers made, and stout defense without fouling (1 personal).
  • Will Little amassed 15 points and 6 rebounds as an interior presence.
  • Montrell Horsey had a breakout day with 8 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists.
How it Happened
  • Things did not look good for Bryn Athyn early, as it found itself down 19-6 after seven minutes.
  • After a quick timeout, Lions recalibrated and went on a 28-4 scorcher to go up 11.
  • Eagles failed to close the gap before the half was over, leading to a 14-point lead for the Lions at the break.
  • Saint Elizabeth was kept at bay for the bulk of the second half; still down 11 with 12 minutes to go.
  • Shots then started to fall for the Eagles, and suddenly the Lions were grappling for victory.
  • Bryn Athyn's transition and interior games proved to be too much for Saint Elizabeth, as the visiting team iced it with a dunk and two layups.
Coach's Corner
  • "This was a big road win. We went into a hostile place to maintain sole possession of first place. Our first half was one our best halves of basketball all year. We need to continue to develop our finishing skills to close out a game. We now move onto a tough second place Wilson team on Wednesday." - Head Coach Sean Westerlund
Notes
  • Lions shot just eight 3-pointers on the afternoon, swaying from what they like to do in favor of what they needed to do (29-52 2PT).
  • Bryn Athyn is now 17-6 overall, 12-2 in United East play, and remains the top seed in the Skye Division.
Up Next
  • Men's Basketball hosts Wilson on Wednesday, February 7th at 8:00pm at Asplundh Field House.
    • With a win, Bryn Athyn would clinch the 1 seed in the Skye Division and homecourt advantage throughout the Conference Tournament
