BRYN ATHYN, Pa. - The women's lacrosse team earned its signature win of 2024 on Saturday, defeating conference rival Wilson 7-6.
Inside the Box Score
- Shea Gormley shined as bright as the Lions needed today, scoring 4 goals, corralling 6 ground balls, winning 4 draw controls and causing 1 turnover.
- Maria Storck was a two-way star today, adding 1 goal, 2 assists, 3 goals, 1 draw control, and stellar defense on Wilson's best player.
- Kira Bradley made tons of plays defensively, finishing with 5 ground balls and 5 caused turnovers.
- Sabrina Brock supplemented the effort 1 goal, and 3 caused turnovers.
How it Happened
- Only one goal was scored in the first period: a free position one from Gormley six minutes in.
- The rest of the period was back and forth, with the teams exchanging clears, turnovers and missed shots.
- The second quarter was much of the same, with the only difference being two more Bryn Athyn goals.
- Lions went into halftime up 3-0.
- Wilson came out of halftime with a purpose, scoring thrice in nine minutes to tie the game in the blink of an eye.
- Costly fouls by the Phoenix put the Lions in a good spot, and Storck put the home team ahead soon after the visitors' run.
- Brock added another one late in the third, and the Lions went into the final frame up two.
- Wilson wedged its way back into the game with two scores to Bryn Athyn's one early in the fourth, making it 6-5 BAC with under nine minutes to go.
- It looked to stay that way until Phoenix put in a free position goal with 2 minutes left to tie the game.
- Gormley proceeded to take the next draw control down the field, draw a free position shot, and score with 1:22 to go.
- Lions 7, Phoenix 6.
