Men's Basketball take care of business in quarterfinals

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. - The men's basketball team stayed hot with its win over Wilson College on Saturday, defeating the Phoniex 73-63 tp advance to the next round of the United East Conference tournament.

  • Jakir Hampton made his presence felt on his way to 26 points and nabbing 4 rebounds.
  • Jalen Parker saved his best game of the season for when it mattered most as he posted a double-double; 14 points and 15 rebounds.
  • Will Little added 13 points and 6 rebounds.
  • Keith Bullock Jr. amounted to 7 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals. 
  • Jalen Jackson did all the little things contributing 7 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists.  
How it Happened
  • Bryn Athyn found themselves down early as Wilson held a 7-2 lead in the first four minutes. 
  • Lions responded with a 21-4 run thanks to strong rebounding and physicality.
  • Phoneix got back on track with an 22-12 stretch to close the first half, mostly buoyed by capitalizing on Lion mistakes, putting the home team up two. 
  • Bryn Athyn broke out in the second half, pounding the paint with a purpose and executing a 18-4 stretch to go up 16 with just under fourteen minutes to go. 
  • Wilson made it interesting late with some shot-making and rebounding, putting the game within 4 with four minutes remaining.
  • However, the home team converted free throws in the clutch to seal the game and advance to the next round; 73-63. 
Coach's Corner
  • Proud of our guys being locked in today. It was a historic win with it being our first playoff win in program history and setting a single season wins record. At the end of the day, we earned 4 hours and 40 more minutes together as a group. We must stay focused on the goal at hand. We prepared for a talented and tough Penn College team now. - Head Coach Sean Westerlund
