Men's Basketball headed to Championship

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. - The men's basketball team stamped their spot in the United East Conference Championship with a thrilling overtime win over Penn College,

  • Jakir Hampton came through clutch in OT with a deep 3 and made free throws as he finished with 27 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists.
  • Jalen Parker controlled the game from beginning to end on his way to 19 points,10 rebounds, and 8 assists. 
  • Will Little flirted with a double-double with 18 points and 8 rebounds. 
  • Jalen Jackson did everything necessary on his way to 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals. 
How it Happened
  • The Lions opened the game on a 7-2 run.
  • As the energy amplified both teams would exhange buckets the remainder of the half and were tied at 31 with a little under five minutes remaining. 
  • Bryn Athyn ended the half on a 12-6 run and held a 6 point lead at halftime.
  • The Wildcats came out of the half on the attack and made it a 1 point game within the first two minutes.
  • Over the next eight minutes, the Lions would score, but the Wildcats refused to go away by converting drives to lane. 
  • Under 8 minutes, Penn College took the lead with a AND1 layup and made foul shot. 
  • The remainder of the half neither team could pull away as Penn College converted late free throws to tie the game at 80 and send it to ovettime. 
  • In overtime, the Lions reminded Penn College why they were the #1 seed through defensive tenacity and making tough buckets.
  • In the last 55 seconds of regulation; senior Jakir Hampton connected on a deep go ahead 3 to give the lions the lead while going 4-4 from the line to seal the deal for the top seed; 96-91.

  • Bryn Athyn had all 5 starters in double figures. 
  • Senior Keith Bullock Jr. reached 1000 career points milestone.
  • Senior Jalen Jackson surpassed 1500 points for his collegiate career. 
  • The Lions extended their win streak to 14 games, and have won 16 straight United East Conference games
  • For the first time in program history, the Lions will compete for a conference championship.
