Box Score Bryn Athyn, Pa. - The Lions defeated cross-town rival Penn State Abington tonight in Thursday night action. The Lions collected their first win ever in school history, with a score of 64-24.
The win was highlighted by three players in double digits. Hajaaha Stevens dominated the boards, scoring 18 points, going 8-9 on the floor and pulled back six rebounds. She was complimented by Kristina Clark with 19 points and seven rebounds.
Stevens and Clark developed a dominating defensive presence in the first half. The Lions caused 20 turnovers, with Bianca Feliciano snagging five steals and Taylor Davis with 2 blocks. The score going into half-time was 29-13.
The defense raised it's intensity, going into the second half. Bryn Athyn held off any scoring efforts from Penn State Abington until 11 minutes into the second half. The Lions out rebounded PSU-A 53-30 and shot 40.0% from the field.
Steven's quoted, "We played a really good game. Everyone put in a great effort and played really well. I am excited about our first win and look to continue this effort. Going forward, we look to continue to work hard and get ready for Saturday."
After Coach Felty's first win as a Head Coach she expressed, "I think that everyone stepped up when called upon tonight. Hajaaha really attacked the basket and helped us pull ahead early. Schmidtt really challenged us inside, so we turned around and challenged our team at halftime to pick up the intensity on the defensive end. This Saturday we will look to continue to attack the rim and collect points in the paint against SUNY Cobleskill. We will need Hajaaha and Taylor to step up and be a big presence inside as we try for our second win going into Thanksgiving break."
The Lion's look to continue this streak as they travel north to face SUNY Cobleskill this Saturday. Tip-off is set for 3:00 pm.
