Box Score Reading, PA. – The Bryn Athyn College women's basketball team defeated Penn State Berks 75-57 on the road in Monday night action.
Hajaaha Stevens led Bryn Athyn with a career high double-double, 25 points and 21 rebounds. Kristina Clark recorded her second double-double, putting up 16 points, pulling back 14 rebounds and six steals. Brittany Vick scored 11 points and three rebounds.
After three lead changes and two ties, the Lions started to pull away after a three-pointer made by Vick, with 10:37 left in the first. Lions did a good job putting extra pressure on Nittany Lions right out of the gate. The Lions trapped along the baselines and in the corners to force the Nittany Lions into committing several early turnovers. Bryn Athyn would build their lead to 10 points before PSU-Berks would try to chip away at the lead. The Lions attacked the defensive boards to help keep the Nittany Lions away and build the Lions lead to 15 points, going into the half.
Bryn Athyn out rebounded the Nittany Lions 29-13 in the second half. The Lions shot 41 percent from the field. Stevens went 4-5 from the court and pulled back 13 rebounds. The Lions built their biggest lead of the game to 23 points with 6:22 left in the game. Bryn Athyn would defeat their future NEAC opponent PSU-Berks 75-57.
First Assistant Coach Boodhansingh expressed, "We were very proud of our team following the game plan and meeting team goals and expectations. We really look forward to playing them next year as a NEAC opponent. Hajaaha was a force for us today with 25pts and 21rebs. And Kristina contributed huge as well with 16pts and 14rebs. We all played as a team and we couldn't be more proud of our team!"
Bryn Athyn heads to Bryn Mawr this Wednesday night for a 7:00 pm tipoff.
