Women's Basketball Completes First Weekend on a High Note

Box Score

Hackettstown, Nj.- The Bryn Athyn Women's Basketball team picked up their first win in the season with a highly contested game against Penn State-Wilkes Barre. The Lions took down the 1-1 Nittany Lions in a 69-60 victory. Bianca Feliciano was named to the All Tournament Team.

Coming off of yesterday loss to the host New Jersey City, Coach Kayla Felty was able to identify what needed to change in order to be victorious today, "The team had a strong first half and executed the game play perfectly. Unfortunately they came out flat and NJCU was able to capitalize of mistake. We look to come out strong again PSU-Wilkes Barre to even the record heading into Thanksgiving break."

Coach Felty's plan was active through a very balanced offensive front that allowed for several key players in her line up to put up points in the first half. Both Keanna Schoennagle and Brittany Vick shot 50 percent from the field each notching six points to the first half total. Taylor Davis and Kristina Clark both were potent on the rebounding attack grabbing five rebounds each and contributing to the 23 rebounds for the Lions against Wilkes-Barre's 17 in the first half. The Lions also showed improvement from behind the arc in the first by knocking down 50 percent of three-point attempts. The team looked strong and although the score was with in double digits, the Lions commanded the court on both ends.

The Lions remained on top to finish out the competition. A big contribution from the team came for the benches play the Lions showed, compiling 36 of the total 69 points for the Lions.

Brittany Vick and Keanna Schoennagle continued to lead the Lions in scoring as they both put up 14 points in the game for a victorious effort. Anja Weisser was the leading rebounder for the Lions and also put up six points of her own. Sophomore Anja Weisser had this to say about her team's victory, "After a hard loss yesterday, we came back and worked together to a get a win today. I am proud of my team and thank my coaches for getting us prepared and pushing for a bounce back win."

A bounce back it was indeed, the Lions have a lot of momentum coming off this weekends win and looks to continue to ride the wave all the way to their next game Saturday, December 6 at 1pm. The Lions advance to a 1-1 record on the season.
