Women's Basketball Slips By Trinity DC

Bryn Athyn, Pa.- The Bryn Athyn College women's basketball team defeated Trinity Washington 63-57 in Saturday afternoon action. 

Hajaaha Stevens led the Lions with 23 points and 13 rebounds. Kristina Clark added 15 points and 13 rebounds, while Bianca Feliciano notched 11 points. Keana Schoennagle pulled in nine rebounds and dished out four assists. 

Momentum switched back and forth between the Lions and the Tigers during the first half. No team had more than a five point lead during the half. At 6:26, a good jumper from Kattie Cox gave Bryn Athyn a 20-15 lead. The Tigers answered with a jumper of their own to come within three. Clark made a layup at 5:54 to make the score 22-17. Trinity Washington hit a three pointer and a layup to tie the game at 22-22. The Lions fell behind, until 2:53 when Taylor Davis made a free throw to tie the game at 25-25. Another three pointer from the Tigers gave them a 28-25 lead. At 1:52, Brittany Vick hit a jumper, was fouled, and converted 1-1 to tie the game at 28-28. With 1:28 left in the half, Davis notched a layup to give the Lions a 30-28 lead going into the locker room. 

The Lions started out the second half going on a 7-0 run to take a 37-28 lead. The Lions extended their lead to 17 points at the 15:20 mark, picking up the biggest lead of the matchup. Trinity Washington fought back to bring the game within four, 50-46, at the 7:35 mark. A layup from Stevens and a three pointer from Feliciano put the Lions on top by nine. Possession switched back and forth for the remainder of the game, and the Lions came out on top 63-57. 

Feliciano expressed, "We had a slow start and our energy was low but once we started to play together, the win came easily."

Head Coach Kayla Felty stated, "We changed up our press to start the second half and were able to cause turnovers and create easy baskets for ourselves. We always tell our team that once we have the lead, we focus on building on it. Our starters are very unselfish and did a great job of playing together and finding the open person."

Bryn Athyn finish the season at home on Monday, February 17th against Valley Forge Christian. The game is slated for 6:00pm.
