Box Score Bryn Athyn, Pa.- The snow was not able to stop NEAC conference action on Tuesday night versus visiting Wilson Phoenixes. Before the firs timeout was called the Lions got out to a 6-2 The Lions were able to pressure defense their way to holding the Phoenix to just two points as they advanced 14-4 at the five minute mark.
Kattie Cox picked up two steals and was able to convert the turnovers for points. Brittney Vick followed the act with a jumper from the left side. Kattie Cox scored down low and extended the Lions run to 27-9. Keanna Scchoennagle got in on the action knocking down a three from beyond the arc. As a team the Lions were able to come up with multiple stops during the first half.
Schoennagle picked up a steal, dished it to La Bat who found Davis down low for a score at 5:15. The were able to add a different combination of Davis to Clark to Schoennagle on the next possession for two points. Schoennagle followed with another three point putting the Lions up 48-14. The Lions were 4-4 on possessions converted from that point, even with fresh legs off of the bench.
Taylor Davis had a n impressive block in mid court off a three point attempt, which she was able to transition into a layup. Brittney Vick followed with a rebound, which the Lions were able to score off.
Brittney Vick led the Lions in the half with notching 15 points. Tierra McFadden was the rebounding leader with eight rebounds. Schoennagle was an impressive 4-5 from the field. The Lions created a dominating presence going into the locker room. Everyone on the team had an positive stat towards the aggressive offensive effort. The score going into the half was 56-20.
Clark started the half with a rebound and a layup for two. Schoennagle found Vick on the corner for a three at 15:50. The Lions dominated the rest of the half for the go ahead win. The Lions held the lead the entire game and finished with a 51-point victory of the Phoenix.
Tierra Mcfadden recorded her first double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Vick led the Lions with 19 points. The Lions picked up their first conference win advances to 2-5 on the season.
A very proud Coach Felty spoke about her first conference win for the season, "I am very happy for the team earning their first NEAC win. It was a total team effort and everyone stepped up when they had the opportunity. Our defensive pressure combined with Brittany's shooting put us up early in the first half. We focused on and accomplished our game goals and are looking to carry that over to Thursday's game."
The Lions travel to Galleuadet this Thursday for consecutive NEAC matches.
