Box Score Glenside, Pa - The women's basketball team traveled cross town to take on Arcadia. The Lions fell 59-50 to the Knights in non conference action, moving to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in the conference on the season.
The Lions went into tonights game 1-1 on the season looking to recover from a close loss to Lancaster Bible over the weekend. The game started with Arcadia taking control of the game from the start going on a 8-0 run in the first two minutes of the game. Despite Bryn Athyn getting 4 points each by Kristina Clark and Robin McClinek, the Lions found themselves with a 14 point deficit at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter was another quarter where the Lions struggled to cut into Arcadia's lead. The Lions only scored 7 points, shooting 1 for 10 from the field. The first half ended with Arcadia leading 38-17.
The Lions came out determined in the third to cut into Aracadia's lead and shut down the Knight's offense. Led on both sides of the court by Taylor Davis with 8 points, 1 steal and 1 block and Bianca Felciano with 3 steals, the Lions were able to outscore the Knights 23-11 in the third quarter shooting 73% from the field. The third quarter ended with the Lions only being down by nine. 49-40.
The fourth quarter started with both teams struggling to score. The Lions could not afford to exchange baskets with the Knights. Kristina Clark scored consecutive baskets to get the Lions as close as 8 points, but each time the Knights responded with 2 points of their own. With 1:05 left in the game, Keana Schoennagle hit a 3 pointer to get the Lions within 7, but that is all the scoring the Lions were able to put up in the final minute. The Knights were able to run out the clock and hold onto for the 59-50 defeat of the Lions.
Kristina Clark led the Lions with 14 points and 9 rebounds. Taylor Davis had 10 points and led the team with 2 blocked shots.
The Lions move to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in the conference. The Lions are back on the road as they travel to take on Susquehanna on Saturday December 12th at 2:00 pm.
