Box Score Bryn Athyn, Pa. – Asplundh Field House hosted NEAC match tonight against visiting St. Elizabeth College.
St. Elizabeth College started the game putting down a three and laying in for two. Davis responded with two down low. Eagles countered with two. Vick answered the ante with a three. La Bat picked up a steal and found Clark on a break away points. Five minutes into the half eagles led by only three.
Je'La Watson caught some steam at 11:49 knocking down five clean shots. Davis came up with a block at the other end to continue the effort. Feliciano was also able to knock down a jumper giving the Lions their first lead of the contest, 20-18.
La Bat advanced the Lions on the top of the key and with teamwork her and Watson caused a turnover leading to a McFadden basket. La Bat and Watson had a repeat performance with a steal and a Watson score. The Eagles tried to stop the momenteum with a basket.
Schoennagle added a three and Watson caused another turnover. The Eagles and the Lions went back and forth for a quick clock. The Eagles came within two at the 3:47 mark. On a quick cut to the basket, Feliciano drew a foul and converted two free throws. Lion's defense picked up another turnover giving the offense another chance to score.
The Eagles were able to move ahead 34-33, at 1:06. A three from the Eagles spread the lead to four before the end of the half. La Bat put up two before the half leaving time for just two more poesessions. Lions took advantage by drawing a foul with 1.1 secs left and knocking down one of the two. At the end of the half, Eagles were up one.
Ashley Pledger led the Eagles with 20 points and was 8-10 from the field. Watson led the Lions with 10 points. Davis led with nine rebounds and three blocks.
Pledger scored the first six points for the Eagles in the second creating a little run. Clark, off a foul, put away the Lions first two. Clark found Schoennagle for two mid-range making the score 45-39. Clark, fouled again, continued with two more points.
At 14:09 Feliano spotted behind the arc, ready to shoot, and put a way off a pass from Schoenagle. Watson created a four point run for the Lions. Eagles followed with going ahead three. The first time-out in the half marked a score at 56-51 at the 12:56 minute.
At 8:52 the two team were neck and neck, 64-62. Pledger, for the Eagles, put up two. Clark answered with two. Pledger added to her total with one free throw. Feliciano found a place behind the line and put away one.
Following an Eagle timeout and four minutes left to play, the Eagles had one of their biggest leads of the half, five, 70-65. Clark knocked down both free throws, but the Eagles answered with sinking a three on a quick transition play. Clark's points were the last ones that the Lions were able to put away as the Eagle broke away in final two minutes with an 85-73 win.
Ashley Pledger put away 38 points and was 13-19 from the field. Clark put away 18 points for her self. Davis had 15 rebounds. There were forty eight foul shots made in the game between the two teams seven jump ball constituting a well fought match between these two opponents.
The Lions return to play tomorrow at 12pm against Penn College in the last game of the season.
