Women's Basketball Tops SUNY Cobleskill

Bryn Athyn, Pa -  The Bryn Athyn College women's basketball team took down SUNY Cobleskill 51-42 in NEAC conference action Saturday afternoon.

The first half remained pretty equal with positioning and scoring.  Kristina Clark powered through the first with 18 points of her own in the first half.

She continued the trend with putting in two points to start the half. The Lions went up 24-17. Bryn Athyn started off the half with two key rebounds and defensive stops.  Taylor Davis followed with two for herself on a lay up. The Lions withheld the Tigers with a caused jump ball and a ten-second violation to put the ball in Lions hands for key opportunities in the first five minutes. The Tigers didn't score until the 5 minute mark were they consecutively put in two.   

Defensive pressure caused the Tigers to turnover the ball on a traveling violation. The set up an offensive play and put away two from a Davis rebound and put back. Shelby Preston countered the shot with two points in the paint after she broke a press attempt. 

Bianca Feliciano found Clark down low for an easy put up at 12:20.  Preston was able to put up two as the shot clock wound down making score 30-25.  Feliciano was able to return with a jumper. Cobleskill's Preston followed with two more, making the game a point for point battle.  Preston went on an eight point run for the Tigers. Feliciano, fouling a hard foul, put one up for the Lions and Clark added two on the subs play. Bryn Athyn finally defensive shut down Preston, causing a traveling violation.  The score, at this point, was within four at 35-31.

Syney LaBat found gold behind the arc sinking a three, moving the lead up to eight. Feliciano also was able to collect three from the top off a LaBat dish. The Lions were able to extend a seven point run with the three buckets. The Tigers were able to stop the bleeding with a lay in. 

With three minutes left the Lions set a demanding presence, with a 49-36 lead,, by moving the ball efficiently and creating easy scoring opportunities.  Bryn Athyn pulled away with a commanding win 51-42. 

Clark finished the game with 26 points and shot 10-14 from the field. Taylor Davis and Keana Schoenagle both collected nine rebounds.

Today's leader, Clark, said this about the win: "At the beginning of the game we weren't able to adjust to the scoring from beyond the arc so we adjusted and attacked the basket. I am happy for the team win but we have to be ready for tomorrow and make the changes we need to today."

BAC returns in less than 24 hours for tomorrows match against SUNY-Poly at 12pm. The Lions advance to 7-11 overall and 6-7 in NEAC play.
