Box Score Bryn Athyn, Pa – The Bryn Athyn women's basketball team in their first home game of the season took on Galluadet in conference action on Thursday evening at Asplundh Field House.
The first minutes of the game had both teams struggling from the field. The Bison went out to an early 6-2 lead. After a steal from Keanna Schoennagle, Taylor Davis finished off a lay up to cut the led to 2, 6-4. With 3:36 left Je'La Watson got the lead to one, 10-9 after finishing off a fast break lay-up. Sarah Elizabeth Atunrase tied up the game 10-10 after making 1 of 2 from the line with 2:41 left. The quarter ended with the Bisons up 11 – 10.
Robin McClinek gave the Lions the lead in the second quarter 12-11 off a lay up after two offensive rebounds. At 7:33, The Lions extended the lead by 5 after Taylor Davis and Kristina Clark added 4 consecutive points. The Bison cut the lead to 1 with under a minute left, 20-19. A big basket by Sam Hicks gave the Lions a 3 point lead going into the half, 22-19.
The Bison started the third quarter cutting the lead to one, 22-21 on a lay-up by Zamica Gage. Robin McClinek was instrumental in the third quarter adding 7 points helping the Lions hold a 6 point lead at the end of the quarter.
The Lions took a 10 point lead in the fourth after JeLa Watson assisted on a Kristina Clark lay up. A three pointed by Bianca Feliciano at the 5:56 mark stopped a Bison 6-0 run putting the Lions up 42-35. Je'La Watson a made jump shot from 15 feet out to put the Lions back up by ten with 3:05 left in the game. Kristina Clark sealed thevictory putting the Lions up by 12 with 1:50 left after a Taylor Davis offensive rebound and assist.
The Lions were able to shut down the Bison to hold on to the 55-43 victory, for their second conference win of the season.
The Bison were led Zamica Gage with a game high 21 points and 9 rebounds and Danielle Morris with 8 points and team high 10 rebounds.
The Lions were led Je'La Watson with 14 points and Kristina Clark with 13 points. Robin McClinek had 10 rebounds and added 9 points.
The Lions move to 2-1 in conference play and 4-4 overall. The Lions travel to take on Penn State Berks on Saturday January 9th at 3:00 pm.
