How It Happened:

Throughout tonight's North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) opener, Bryn Athyn College and Gallaudet University were neck to neck against each other, and it was not until the fourth quarter that the Lions began to separate themselves in the competition. In the first quarter, both teams traded leads twice and it was the Lions who finished the first period with a slim 14-12 lead. In the second quarter, the Bisons would take their largest lead of eight, 22-14, but the Lions were able to close out the first half on a 10-4 run sparked by senior guard Kristina Clark, freshman forward Allison Warren, and freshman guard Samantha Hicks. The third quarter saw another close battle and after the Bisons took a four point, 37-33, lead with 1:47 left to play, the Lions would close out strong again on a free throw by Clark and back to back baskets from senior guard Brittany Vick to take a 39-37 lead into the final period. In the final stanza, strong defensive presence from the Lions forced 12 Bisons turnover. The Lions were able to enjoy their biggest lead of the game, 64-48, on two free throws by senior guard Keana Schoennagle and that kept  the game out of reach for the Bisons while the home team finished with a 64-50 conference victory.
