Women's Basketball Cruise to a 76-56 Victory over Gators

How It Happened:

In the final game of the 2016 year, Bryn Athyn College women's basketball team faced Notre Dame of Maryland to a non-conference game and dismantled the Gators 76-56.  

The Lions got off to a quick start in the first quarter and was led by Samantha Hicks who assisted on five of the seven field goals made. With a strong 19-10 start, the Lions continued their dominance in the second quarter and led by as many as 28 points (47-19) with 17 seconds left into intermission. 

The Gators were able to match the Lions' solid performance in the second half, and even held a slight scoring advantage, 17-15 in third quarter and 17-14 in the fourth quarter. Despite their comeback efforts, the Lions were able to cruise comfortably to a 76-56 victory into the holiday break.

Lions' Top Performers

* Hicks finished with 12 assists, including nine in the first half.

Kristina ClarkAmber Farnholtz, and Sarah Elizabeth Atunrase all had double-doubles.

* Clark: 12 points 12 rebounds. Farnholtz: 11 points 13 rebounds, Atunrase: 10 rebounds 10 blocks.

Allison Warren led the balanced Lions attack with 13 points. 

Gators' Top Performers:  

* Dania Taylor had game high 18 points to go along with seven rebounds, five assists, and four steals.

* Justin Mudiay and Zaria Comer had 16 and 11 points respectively.

Stats of the Game: 

* Lions had a 63-41 rebounding advantage.

* Gators committed 16 turnovers compared to Lions 27.

* Lions had 11 steals while Gators had 20.

Next Game:  

Women's Basketball now heads into the break for the holidays. The Lions will ring in the new 2017 year with a 3:00 p.m. North Eastern Athletic Conference game against Lancaster Bible College on Sunday January 8.
