Women's Basketball cruise to 85-50 win over Penn College

Bryn Athyn Pa - The Bryn Athyn women's basketball team defeated Penn College today 85-50 in their final regular season game on Saturday afternoon. The Lions have secured a spot in the NEAC play-offs for the first time in school history. 

Before the start of today's season finale, the Lions knew they had clinched a play-off birth in the NEAC. The Lions and Penn College were tied 5-5 at the 5:50 mark, then the Lions outscored Penn 18-5 to close out the first,led by Je'La Watson with 9 points. When Penn scored the first four points of the second, the Lions responded with a 12-0 run, again led by Je'La Watson scoring nine points during the run. The Lions held a 45-26 lead at the end of the first half.

The Lions would never look back, as they outscored Penn 23-11 in the third quarter. In the third, the Lions extend their lead by as much as 33 in this quarter. The Lions would increase their lead by 40 with 3:04 left in the game, after two made free throws by Je'La Watson, 82-42. The Lions kept their lead significant to hold onto the 85-50 conference win over Penn College

The Lions had 5 players score in double digits and 3 players with double-doubles. Je'La Watson was the leading scroing for the Lions with 22 points. Keanna Schoenaggle had 13 points and 11 rebounds. Robin McClinek had 16 points and 16 rebounds, Kristina Clark had 12 points and a team high 17 rebounds and Samantha Hicks added 12 points. 

The Lions make school history by being the first team  to make the NEAC play-offs. The Lions close out the regular season with a 13-7 record in the NEAC and 15-10 overall. The 2015-2016 Bryn Athyn College women's basketball season has been the most successful for Coach Kayla Felty in her third year season.
