Lions defeat SUNY Cobleskill 67-57

Cobleskill NY - The Bryn Athyn women's basketball team traveled up north to take on SUNY Cobleskill. The Lions defeated the host Tigers 67-57 in conference play on Saturday afternoon. 

The Lions were looking to bounce back from their loss during the week at PSU Abington. The Lions went out to a 7-3 lead after a Robin McClinek lay up. Robin McClinek extended the lead to six, 12-6, with a lay up and assist by Kristina Clark. The Tigers battled back to tie the game at 12 and then eventual took the lead 14-12 with 56 seconds left. A Je'La Watson three pointer with 13 seconds left gave the Lions the lead at the end of the quarter, 15-14. 

The second started with both teams going scoreless for the opening three minutes. The Tigers took a four point lead after a three pointer by Ashley Creighton, 19-15. The Lions regained the lead, 22-21, after a steal and a lay up by Kristina Clark. A Bianca Felciano three pointer put the Lions back up by four, 25-21. Both teams exchanged baskets with the Lions holding onto the lead until the Tigers tied the game, 32-32, with 12 second left. The score would remian the same as the half ended, 32-32. 

The third started the same as the second with both teams not able to score any baskets. The Tigers took a two point lead, but the Lions scored 4 consectutive points by Samantha Hicks and Keanna Schoennagle to take 36-34 lead. Both teams battled and kept the score close with the third quarter ending with the Lions behind by one, 46-45. 

The fourth and final quarter did not see any socring until the 7:10 mark when Samantha Hicks hit two free throws to put the Lions back up by one 47-46. With the score tied at 49, the Lions then went on a 7-0 run. From there the Lions outscored the Tigers 18-8 to close out the game. The Lions outscored the Tigers 22-11 in the fourth. The Lions dominated the boards in the quarter 16-7 led by 10 rebounds by Robin McClinek. 

The Lions 67-57 win moves them to 11-3 in the NEAC and 13-6 overall. Robin McClinek had a double-double with 11 points and game high and season high 19 rebounds. Kristina Clark had team high 17 points and Keanna Schoennagle had 14 points.

The Lions are right back in action asthey take on host SUNY Poly on Sunday February 7th in conference play.
