Women's basketball tripped up against Misericordia

ASTON, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College women's basketball team was defeated by Misericordia, 77-28, in the opening round of the Neumann Tip-Off Tournament Saturday afternoon in Neumann University's Mirenda Center.

Janalene Phillips came off the bench to lead the Lions with scoring with eight points. Allie Warren added five points.

Bryn Athyn (0-2) took an early 4-2 advantage at the 7:37 mark of the first quarter on a Morgan Phillips 3-pointer. Then, Misericordia (1-1) ended the quarter on a 22-2 run to grab a 24-6 lead and controlled the rest of the game.

Quintessa Zamolyi was Misericordia's top scorer with 16 points on 5-of-6 shooting, 2-of-2 from 3-point range. Paige Wampole shot 5-of-7 from the field to add 10 points.

Misericordia shot 44.6 percent (29-of-65) overall, while Bryn Athyn connected at a 16.4 percent (9-of-55) clip.

Bryn Athyn will face Penn State Brandywine in the consolation game of the Tournament on Sunday, Nov. 19 at noon.
