Box Score CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. – Clayshonia Cogmon and Allie Warren both posted their first double-double of the year to lead the Bryn Athyn College women's basketball team to its first win this season, 50-45 in overtime over host Clarks Summit Thursday night.
Cogmon had her best game of the season so far, scoring 15 points on 7-of-12 shooting, grabbing 18 rebounds, and recording three steals. She set career highs in all three categories.
Warren knocked down a season-high four 3-pointers to end the night with 15 points. She also corralled a career-best 12 rebounds.
Zeniyah Sanders added eight points, including the go-ahead layup in the overtime session, and career-high 17 rebounds.
Sanders made her go-ahead layup with 2:33 left in overtime to snap a 45-all tie. After forcing a turnover on Clarks Summit's ensuing possession, Shaneika Smith knocked down a jumper, part of an eight-point night, to extend the gap to 49-45. Warren sealed the game with a 1-for-2 trip at the free throw line with 42 seconds left.
The Lions (1-4) had a game-high nine-point advantage (41-32) on a Cogmon jumper with 4:54 remaining in regulation. Clarks Summit (0-4) came back by scoring 11 of the next 13 points to tie the game at 43. After the Lions missed a jumper on its final possession, the Defenders came up empty on two chances in the last four seconds of the fourth quarter.
Clarks Summit's Randie Trexler led all scorers with a game-high 19 points. Trexler hit five 3-pointers. Torri Erdman had 15 points and nine rebounds.
Bryn Athyn shot 29.3 percent (22-of-75) from the field and held Clarks Summit to 25.0 percent (17-of-68) shooting. The Lions owned a 53-42 rebounding advantage, 16-8 on the offensive glass.
The Lions committed a season-low 19 turnovers.
Bryn Athyn will open North Eastern Athletic Conference play with a trip to Wilson on Saturday, Dec. 2. The opening tip is slated for 3 p.m.
