BRYN ATHYN, Pa. -- Myah Phillips knocked down four 3-pointers to record a career-high 17 points for the Bryn Athyn College women's basketball team in a 73-58 North Eastern Athletic Conference loss to SUNY Poly Saturday afternoon in Asplundh Field House.

 

Clayshonia Cogmon posted her third double-double of the season for the Lions (4-10, 1-4 NEAC) as she racked up 11 points and  a game-high 13 rebounds. Allie Warren connected for 3-point range three times on her way to a 12-point afternoon.

 

SUNY Poly (8-5, 4-0 NEAC) led the game from start-to-finish thanks to a 14-2 run in the opening 4:09. The Lions clawed back to half their deficit to 14-8 with 5:08 left in the quarter when Phillips completed a three-point play to cap a 6-0 run. The Wildcats ended the opening 10 minutes by outscoring the Lions 11-2 to make the score 25-10 after one.

 

Cogmon pulled Bryn Athyn within 29-19 with a putback of a Morgan Phillips miss midway through the second quarter. Then, led by seven points from Khristijah Jackson, the Wildcats would go on a 12-2 surge to open up a 41-21 advantage with 1:43 left in the half. A 6-2 spurt, which included three points from Tayla Smith pulled the Lions within 43-27 at the break.

 

The Lions struggled in the third quarter, making just three baskets and committing seven turnovers to find themselves down 61-39 after 30 minutes of play. 

 

Bryn Athyn put together a strong fourth quarter as it outscored SUNY Poly 19-12. Myah Phillips was 3-for-5 from 3-point range during the quarter to lead the offense with nine points. The Lions shot 44.4 percent (8-of-18) during the quarter.

 

Jackson shot 12-of-18 from the field for the Wildcats to produce a game-high 29 points. She also had 12 rebounds, two blocks, and two steals. Kiersten Leos hit six 3-pointers as part of a 24-point, six-steal effort.

 

The Lions shot 29.4 percent (20-of-68) from the field, while the Wildcats connected at a 49.2 percent (29-of-59) rate. Bryn Athyn won the rebounding battle, 48-35.

 

Bryn Athyn retuns to action on Sunday, Jan. 14 against visiting SUNY Cobleskill in a NEAC game at 3 p.m. in Asplundh Field House.
