BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College women's basketball team opened its 2018-19 season with a 71-46 non-conference home loss to Immaculata University Wednesday night in Asplundh Field House.

Bryn Athyn (0-1) had six players get into the scoring act in the opener, led by a 16-point performance by Allie Warren. Warren had a very strong fourth quarter—a 10-minute period that the Lions won 19-6—with 10 points on 3-of-4 shooting from 3-point range.

Clayshonia Cogmon recorded a double-double as she racked up 13 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. She also added four steals. In her collegiate debut, Lauren Beck nearly had a double-double of her own, coming up two points shy with eight points and 12 boards.

Anja Weisser added six points and six rebounds.

Bryn Athyn did a solid job on the glass as the Lions won the rebounding battle 42-37. The Lions grabbed 18 offensive rebounds that led to 13 second-chance points.

The Lions trailed 65-37 before putting together a strong final quarter. In the fourth quarter, Bryn Athyn shot 37.5 percent (6-of-16) from the floor, while holding Immaculata to 21.4 percent (3-for-14) shooting. The Lions also owned a 15-6 advantage in rebounds.

Immaculata (1-0) received a game-high 21 points on 8-of-9 shooting, eight steals, four rebounds, and three assists from Amber Ballinger. Theresa Kearney and Natalie Ayoub both contributed 12 points.

The Mighty Macs finished the game shooting 44.4 percent (28-of-63) overall and the Lions ended up at 29.8 percent (17-of-57).

Bryn Athyn heads to Lebanon Valley this weekend to compete in the Rinzo Marquette Tournament. The Lions open the tournament against the host Dutchmen on Saturday, Nov. 17 at 5 p.m.
