Lions drop season opener to Ramapo in Roadrunner Tip-Off Tournament

MAHWAH, N.J. – The Bryn Athyn College women's basketball team opened its 2019-20 campaign with a 73-36 loss to host Ramapo College in the opening round of the Roadrunner Tip-Off Tournament in the Bradley Center Friday night.

A trio of newcomers led the Lions (0-1) in scoring during the contest. Jayda Campbell topped the team in scoring with eight points and also added four rebounds, three assists, and one steal. Treasure Baskerville contributed seven points, while Nicole Lincifort had six points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

Clayshonia Cogmon, the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) leader in rebounding last season, kicked off the season by hauling in a game-high 10 rebounds.

Ramapo (3-0) had three players crack double-figures in scoring, paced by a pair of 12-point performances from Jessica Repasy and Alie Wickersheim. Cherie Smedile poured in 11 points. Bianca Fede and Repasy were the Roadrunners' top rebounders with eight each.

The Roadrunners shot 49.2 percent (32-of-65) from the field, the Lions made 24.5 percent (13-of-53) of their attempts. Ramapo won the rebounding battle, 48-34.

Bryn Athyn returns to action in the consolation game of the Roadrunner Tip-Off Tournament against Johnson and Wales (R.I.), who lost to Farmingdale State 73-64, on Saturday, Nov. 16 in the Bradley Center at noon.
