Box Score BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – Kalie Soulsby posted a career-high 22 points and 12 rebounds for the Bryn Athyn College women's basketball team in a 66-60 Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) loss to Clarks Summit in Asplundh Field House Saturday afternoon.
In addition to Soulsby, Clayshonia Cogmon reached double figures with a 12-point effort.
Soulsby scored 14 points in the final quarter, 12 in the last seven minutes as Bryn Athyn (4-13, 3-6 CSAC) tried to erase a 57-41 deficit.
The Lions would go on a 13-4 run over a 5:34 span to get back within 61-54. Soulsby had six of the points, including the final four on free throws, while Treasure Baskerville contributed a 3-point basket and Kaylia Duncan and Cogmon each made a basket. Baskerville finished the game with nine points.
After Clarks Summit (13-4, 8-2 CSAC reclaimed a nine-point lead (63-54), Soulsby single-handedly outscored the Defenders 6-2 to trim the gap to 65-60 with seven seconds remaining.
Bryn Athyn got off to a hot start, scoring the first nine points of the afternoon in the opening 2:18. Four different players contributed to the early surge—led by a Baskerville 3-pointer. With the gap sitting at 15-7 after another Baskerville triple, Clarks Summit recorded the final eight points of the quarter to tie the score at 15.
The Lions' final lead of the game came 51 seconds into the second quarter when Soulsby snapped the 15-15 deadlock with two free throws. A 5-0 spurt by the Defenders put them in front of the first time, 20-17. After an Allie Warren free throw tied the game at 21, Clarks Summit went on another 5-0 mini-run to lead 26-21. Bryn Athyn would be down 31-27 at the half.
In the third quarter, Bryn Athyn cut the margin to 34-33 on a Cogmon 7-footer. Then, Clarks Summit began to pull away as the Defenders ran off 12 of the next 14 points to open up a 46-35 advantage.
Alison Aten was the Defenders' leading scorer with 12 points. Randie Traxler and Selena Novo each had 11 points, while Michaela McLeod recorded 10 points.
Bryn Athyn dominated the rebounding battle, 58-33.
The Lions are back in Asplundh Field House for their next contest coming on Wednesday, Jan. 29 against Cedar Crest at 8 p.m.
