Lions rally from 15 down to defeat Rosemont in season finale 80-75

ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College women's basketball team saved its best basketball for the last 3:33 of the 2019-20 season. Trailing 75-60, the Lions scored the game's final 20 points in Saturday's season finale at Rosemont to come from behind and defeat the Ravens 80-75 in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) contest.

Allie Warren drained a pair of 3-pointers as she scored nine of her game total 22 points in the final 3:33. Her fifth and final 3-pointer of the afternoon, coming with 64 seconds left, tied the game at 75.

With 29 seconds remaining, Alexis Mitchem, who had four points in the game, completed the rally by making a fastbreak layup to put the Lions (6-19, 5-13 CSAC) ahead 77-75—the team's first lead since the 5:44 mark of the first quarter.

Clayshonia Cogmon, Bryn Athyn's leading scorer with 24 points, put the game away with another fastbreak layup with five seconds left on the clock to widen the gap to 79-75. Cogmon had eight points during the comeback.

In addition to the strong offense—which including 7-of-10 shooting—Bryn Athyn dominated on the defensive end of the floor. The Lion defense forced the Ravens (7-18, 5-13 CSAC) to miss six straight shots and turn the ball over five times on their final 11 possessions of the game.

Kaylia Duncan joined Cogmon and Warren in double figures with 11 points.

Thanks to a 13-rebound performance from Cogmon, to complete her 11th double-double of the season, allowed the Lions to control the rebounding battle 51-36. The Lions had 23 offensive rebounds, which led to 24 points.

Bryn Athyn got off to a hot start, scoring the first seven points of the afternoon in the opening 95 seconds. It was the Lions' largest lead of the game. Rosemont would respond with a 22-6 run to open up a 22-13 lead 1:12 left in the quarter.

Bryn Athyn finished the game shooting 43.2 percent (35-of-81) from the field, while Rosemont shot 42.0 percent (29-of-69).

Ke'Alohilani Naone-Carter was Rosemont's top scorer with a game-high 37 points.
