CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – Allie Warren recorded her fourth career double-double, which included her 1,000th career point, to help the Bryn Athyn College women's basketball team pick up a 65-39 Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) victory over Wilson College in Nelson Gymnasium Wednesday night.
Needing seven points to reach 1,000, Warren scored 13 points in the win and also grabbed a season-best 10 rebounds. Warren needed just four minutes to Kristina Clark in the Bryn Athyn women's basketball 1,000-point club as she scored the Lions' first seven points of the game.
The double-double was Warren's first since she put together a 32-point, 15-rebound performance in a victory over Cairn on January 26, 2019.
In addition to Warren, Bryn Athyn (5-15, 4-9 CSAC) had three other players score in double figures. Clayshonia Cogmon led the Lions in scoring with 15 points on 7-of-14 shooting. Treasure Baskersville added 11 points in a reserve role, while Kaylia Duncan contributed 10 points.
Kalie Soulsby grabbed a game- and career-high 18 rebounds.
Thanks to Warren's fast start, Bryn Athyn owned a 7-2 advantage. However, the Lions wouldn't score again in the quarter. The Lion defense held the Phoenix (2-16, 1-12 CSAC) to four points and allowed Bryn Athyn to lead 7-6 after one quarter.
Then, Bryn Athyn's offense came to life in the second quarter as the Lions shot 10-of-19 from the field, 5-of-8 from 3-point range, to outscore the Phoenix 25-4—including a 23-0 run—and go into halftime ahead 32-10. Baskerville led the charge by hitting three of her six 3-point attempts to record nine points. Warren added five points, while Cogmon and Soulsby had four points each. On the defensive end, Bryn Athyn forced Wilson into 2-of-15 shooting and seven turnovers.
The Lion lead grew to 23 points when Duncan put back her own miss midway through the third quarter to make the score 38-15. Cogmon stopped a run of seven straight Wilson points by making a layup with 2:11 left in third quarter and Baskerville made two free throws two minutes later to give Bryn Athyn a 42-22 lead going into the fourth.
A 19-5 run over a 5:40 stretch of the fourth quarter gave Bryn Athyn a game-high 29-point cushion (61-32).
Samira Murphy led Wilson with 10 points and nine rebounds.
Bryn Athyn finished up shooting 41.0 percent (25-of-61), while Wilson shot (19.7 percent (13-of-66). The Phoenix made just three of their 27 3-point attempts.
