BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College men's cross country team came in second place in a home race against Penn State Abington and Chestnut Hill on a very warm Wednesday evening on the Bryn Athyn campus.
The Lions tallied 50 points, 18 behind Penn State Abington's winning score of 32. Chestnut Hill brought three runners and didn't factor into the team scoring.
Trevor Kleckner paced the Lions for the second consecutive week as he completed the 4-kilometer course in the seventh-place time of 15 minutes, 22.2 seconds—a 16.5-second improvement from the Highlander Invitational.
Tanner Congdon improved his 4K time by nearly 34 seconds as he finished Wednesday's race in eighth place with a time of 16:13.7. Isaac Syre took just over 25 seconds off last week's 4K time by posting a time of 16:31.7 to take 10th place.
Malik Jenkins edged out teammate Tyree Sewell for 12th place by just 0.9 seconds. Jenkins won the battle for 12th with a time of 17:45.5, while Sewell had the 13th-place time of 17:46.4.
Gaird Brock had his career-best 4K time of 18:22.2, almost a minute faster than his previous best, and took 15th. Justin Rallo's 16th-place time of 18:28.5 was his fastest time at the 4K distance.
Michael Flynn rounded out the Bryn Athyn lineup with a time of 28:21.5 to finish 17th.
Penn State Abington's Ben Hoyer won the race with a time of 13:26.0.
Bryn Athyn returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 8 at the Philadelphia Metropolitan Championship at Belmont Plateau.
