Men's cross country finishes 15th in Philadelphia Metropolitan Championship

PHILADELPHIA – The Bryn Athyn College men's cross country team recorded a 15th-place finish in the Philadelphia Metropolitan Championship at Belmont Plateau on Saturday afternoon.

The Lions tallied 401 points in the 15-team field that featured 10 Division II programs. The overall event winner was Division II Wilmington (Del.) University with 55 points, while Stockton was the top Division III school with a runner up score of 57.

Shane McCurdy edged out teammate Trevor Kleckner to be the Lions' fastest runner over the very tough 8-kilometer course. McCurdy was 97th overall in 135-runner field with a time of 35:08.5, while Kleckner—running in his first collegiate 8K—was 98th with a time of 35:10.6.

Tanner Congdon was the 108th place finisher with a time of 36:15.5, two places ahead of Isaac Syre who completed the race in 37:17.6. Tyree Sewell was the Lions' final scoring runner as he crossed the finish line in 38:17.9 to take 116th.

Malik Jenkins was 122nd overall with a time of 40:38.7. Gaird Brock ran the race in 41:41.6 to take 126th, while Justin Rallo ended the day with the 128th-place time of 42:03.0.

Georgian Court's Hussein Elmeshad won the individual title with the winning time of 27.32.9.

Bryn Athyn's next race is the Cedar Crest Open on Friday, Sept. 14 at 5:30 p.m. on the campus of Cedar Crest College.
