Box Score Allentown, Pa. - The Bryn Athyn College men's basketball were back in action today at the Scotty Wood Tournament in Allentown, PA to face Hunter College.
The Lions began the first half with a 17-10 lead, 8 minutes into the game led by Joseph Kehoe with 9 points. The Hawks countered with their own run of 16 points bringing the score to 26-17. The Lion's battled back towards the end of the first half cutting Hunter's lead to 6 points. Going into the locker room the score was 41-35. The Lions finished the first half with a 52% FG and out rebounded Hunter 5:4. Christian Rivera and Kehoe led the lions in the first with 9 points each.
The Lions fought back and forth in second half accumulating rebounds and causing turnovers. Lions were led by point guard Deion Boyer for 16 points and 4 rebounds. The Lion's found themselves in foul trouble early on in the second half. Notwithstanding great defensive and offensive efforts towards the end they Lions fell four points short for a score of 78-74.
The Lion's collected more rebounds than opposing Hawks 27-23, which was led by Troy Steed and Jeff Seigafuse with 5 rebounds respectively. Lion's finished the game with a FG 52%, an improvement from Friday's contest.
Coach Justin Baxter expressed, "Today we got great contributions from our bench. When our starters got in foul trouble our bench was able to keep us in the game so we could make a late run. We just came up a little bit short." Lions to move to 0-2 on the season and Hawks advance to 1-1.
The Lions return to action Wednesday traveling to Arcadia. Tip off is set for 7pm.
