Box Score Glenside, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College men's basketball team fell to Arcadia University, 82-77 in Wednesday night action.
Troy Steed led the Lions with 20 points, five rebounds and three assists. Jeff Seigafuse put up 19 points, five rebounds and two steals. Christian Rivera scored 17 points , pulled back five rebounds and went 3-4 from the 3-point line.
Rivera would drain a three to tie the game at 10-10 for the first tie of the game. He would make another three to give the Lions a 13-10 lead, off a pass from Joseph Kehoe. Bryn Athyn would tie the game at 16-16, from a Seigafuse three pointer with 10:42 left in the first. The Knights go on a 13-0 run in five minutes to lead the Lions 29-16. Bryn Athyn bridged the lead to nine points before going into half time.
With the Knights leading the Lions 56-45 in the second half, Steed dunked the ball on an open cross-court pass, to turn the momentum towards Bryn Athyn. After a turnover caused by the Lions, Steed scored a three-pointer to bring the game within six. Lions kept on the defensive pressure, grabbing rebounds and finding the open man in the paint, to bring the game within three.
Arcadia led the game 61-58, with 11:08 left in the game. Rivera hit a three-pointer from the outside, to tie the game at 61-61. The Knights responded with a 5-0 run to rebuild their lead. Steed made two free throws and a turnover by the Knights, Seigafuse made a 3-pointer, to tie the game again at 70-70. Both teams exchanged leads going into the last minutes of the game. Coach Baxter called a time-out, with 2:08 and a three point Knights lead. Seigafuse scored of a lay-up in the paint, to bring the game within one. Arcadia answered with a lay-up to take a three point lead.
With 15 seconds on the clock and a Bryn Athyn possession. The Lions called a time-out to strategize a plan. With the ball in the middle of the court, the Lions would turnover a mishandled ball and allow the Knights two shots at the foul line after committing a foul. Bryn Athyn would fall to the Knights 82-77.
Bryn Athyn heads to SUNY Cobleskill for a Saturday afternoon action. Tip-off is set for 1:00 pm.
