Men's Basketball Tops Delaware Valley at Home, 73-67

Bryn Athyn, Pa.- The Bryn Athyn College men's basketball picked up their second win 73-67 in Thursday night action against the visiting defending Freedom Conference Champions, Delaware Valley.

Troy Steed led the Lions with 28 points and seven rebounds. He went 12 for 18 from the field, and two for two from the three point line. Christian Rivera added 16 points, and went six for ten from the field. Jeff Seigafuse recorded eleven rebounds.

Halfway through the first half the Lions trailed 12-9. The Aggies held the lead for the rest of the half. The second finished with a pass from Deion Boyer to Seigafuse behind the arc and a three-point conversion. Following an Aggies' possession, Rivera drove to the paint, was fouled, and converted for two. Rivera made another three point play by sinking the free throw from the line. Going into the half, the score read 38-28, with the Aggies on top. Rivera and Steed led the Lions with nine points each. 

Steed started the half by draining a three, which was quickly followed by two points from the line by Boyer. Joe Kehoe attempted a three pointer from behind the arc, was fouled, and converted all three free throws from the line. Steed drove to the hole, was fouled by an Aggie, and made the shot. Following another two successful field attempts, the Lions picked up the first lead of the half, 44-43.

The Lions took an eight-point lead at 6:50, attributed to Boyer's fast beak to the basket. The Aggies battled back at 3:60, but a big stop by Seigafuse and a score by Adonis Rosario assisted by Steed, allowed the Lions to gain momentum. The Aggies came back within three at 1:47, following a successful Del Val free throw.

Steed went to the line at 47 seconds and made one for two. The Aggies missed and Boyer pulled in a crucial defensive rebound. Boyer was fouled and headed to the line, where he converted one of two. The Aggies got the ball following a time out, but the Lions picked up a huge stop and Seigafuse went one for two from the line. Following another Del Val possession, Rosario recorded the final stop for the Lions.

Coach Baxter and his team time management allowed the Lions to take control of the game in the final five minutes. 

First Assistant Coach Torraine Jones commented, "Tonight we had a true team win. We had to battle back to get the victory. This kind of win makes us extremely proud." 

Steed stated, "It was a great defensive game. We showed that we wanted to win, and kept pushing through every obstacle. Heading back to practice tomorrow, we plan on working hard in preparation for Saturday's game against Central Penn."

Bryn Athyn returns to action this Saturday against Central Penn at 3:00 pm.
