Box Score Bryn Athyn, Pa.- The Bryn Athyn College men's basketball team defeated SUNY ESF 73-58 in Saturday afternoon action, picking up their first win of the season and their first win at home.
Christian Rivera led the Lions with 19 points and seven rebounds. Deion Boyer notched 14 points, four steals, four assists, and seven rebounds. Jeff Seigafuse added 12 points and five rebounds, while going 3-6 from the three-point line.
The two teams battled for the lead in the first half. Christian Rivera led the Lions in the first half with 10 points, while Jeff Seigafuse added nine points. The largest difference occurred at the 3:21 mark in the half with the score at 21-29. The Lions responded with a three point play from Rivera, making the score 24-29. Troy Steed and Jeff Seigafuse caused the first in a series of three turnovers to finish out the half and the Lions held the Oaks to only three more points. Rivera went to the line and knocked down two more points. The Lions caused another turnover, followed by a big drive from Rivera. Going into the locker room at the half the Lions trailed by one, 32-31.
During the second half, the Lions picked up the tempo. In the first six minutes of the second the Lions would outscore the Oaks 14-8. The Lions would take the biggest lead of the game at 2:14. The Oaks would not regain a lead for the remainder of the game.
Coach Baxter expressed, "This was a monumental win for our program and the college. Every player and student who is at Bryn Athyn College will be able to say years from now that they were here when the basketball team earned their first victory in program history. Our players deserve a special thanks for the effort they put out everyday."
The Lions return to the court Wednesday, December 18th to host Lancaster Bible. The game is set for 7:00pm.
