Men's Basketball Drops on the Road to Delaware Valley

Doylestown, Pa.- The Bryn Athyn men's basketball traveled short distance to Delaware Valley College tonight at 7:00 pm for a non-conference game.

With five minutes in the first half, off back to back layups from Stephen Johnson and Troy Steed, the Lions went up 9-4. Aggies responded with a five-point run. The team exchanged points staying within one point until a foul committed by the Lions gave Del Val 24-21 lead. 

The Aggies followed with an 8-0 to move, the score to 30-22. The Lions found foul trouble at the end of the half, which allowed for some one pointers to accumulate.

The halftime score was 25-38. The Lions in the first half were led by sophomore Troy Steed with nine points. James Flagg led the boards picking up five rebounds. 

Bryn Athyn started the second half similarly to the first with points from Johnson and Steed. Delaware Valley answered quickly with a layup. Johnson took the ball into his own hands, knocking downing a three. The Aggies answered with a 8-0 run to take a 48-34 with 15 minutes left in the game. 

With a three pointer by Boyer with six minutes and fifteen point deficit and layups from Steed, Bryn Athyn capitalized on Del Val fouls, to bring the game within ten, 68-58 with 3:23 left in the game. Both exchanged points till the end but it would not be enough for the Lions to combat.

Steed and Boyer led the team in scoring with 21 and 17 points respectively. Johnson led the defense with five defensive rebounds and six total rebounds. Johnson also added 13 points to the BAC effort. 

The Lions return to action this Saturday December 20, to face Swarthmore College.
