Box Score Bryn Athyn, Pa.- The Bryn Athyn men's basketball team (0-3) took on the Chargers of Lancaster Bible College (3-1) today in conference play.
The Lions and Chargers were off to the races with an electric start in the first minutes of the half battling for control of the ball and the court. Five minutes into the first the Chargers led 6-5. Austin Nyken made a quick-handed steal, opening up free throw attempts for the Lions. Chargers answered the attack with a layup. Kehoe followed, sinking a three assisted from Nyken creating a two point differential at 12:24 9-11. The senior-freshmen pairing caused havoc pressuring a backcourt violation for the Chargers.
At 5:50 Carlos Perez made a layup off an assist from Deion Boyer moving the Lions within four of the Chargers. Boyer converted his own layup moving the team within two. Teammate Carlos Perez extended the run with an athletic block and Troy Steed picked up the rebound. In the meantime, the Chargers picked up four buckets making the Lions comeback a little tougher. A non-discouraged Kehoe drained a three putting them within one point of LBC. Anthony Wallace caused a change in possesion with charge foul against the Chargers. Wallace also evened the score 24-24 with a free throw. Right before the end of the half, LBC made a layup and a free throw. The Chargers finished the half on top 27-24. Dondre Perry led the Chargers with nine points and Joseph Kehoe led the Lions with nine points. The Lions shot 38 percent from the field and the Chargers shot 40 percent from the field.
Johnson started the half with a wide-open three set up by a fast moving offensive play. Chargers answered with a layup and a three of their own. The Chargers advanced to seven points ahead.
Both team showed a great defensive effort, the first foul in the second half wasn't picked up until five minutes in by the Chargers. The score at 14:32 was 30-40 LBC ahead. Deion was fouled on a layup attempt and was able to knock down both. He then was put on the line for a technical foul attempts and knocked both of those making the run a perfect 4-4.
Following a Charger timeout AT 12:00 Jihaad Fluellen knocked down a three. At 9:46 Joe Kehoe completed a four-point play putting the Lions within five, 41-46. The Lions were unable to overcome LBC play and fell 67-50.
The Lions were led in the game by Joseph Kehoe with 13 points and Deion Boyer with nine points. Troy Steed led the Lions with seven rebounds. The Lions shot 30 percent from the field. Bryn Athyn moves to 0-4 and LBC advances to 4-1.
