Box Score Bryn Athyn, Pa.- The Bryn Athyn College men's basketball team dropped to Berkeley College of New Jersey 65-62 in Saturday night action.
Deion Boyer led the Lions with 14 points, two steals, and two rebounds. Joseph Kehoe notched 11 points and four rebounds, while Jeff Seigafuse added 10 points and two steals. Troy Steed pulled in six rebounds.
Momentum switched back and forth between the Lions and the Knights, with no lead bigger than 5 points during the first 17 minutes of play. At 2:53, a good free throw by Berkeley tied the game at 18-18. The Knights took a 20-18 lead off of a good layup. A Stephan Johnson three pointer, followed by a Boyer layup put the Lions in front by three. Two good jumpers from Berkeley in the last 45 seconds sent the Lions into the locker room down 24-23 at the break.
At 10:42 in the second half, the Knights tied the game at 42-42. A good free throw followed by a layup out Berkeley on top 45-42. Steed answered with a layup to bring the Lions within one. Luis Cirilo notched a jumper to give Bryn Athyn a one point lead. The Lions extended their lead over the Knights until the 6:53 mark, when Berkeley tied the game at 48-48. The game remained close, with no leader bigger than four points for the next five minutes. With :22 left in regulation, Boyer brought the Lions within one at 59-58 after a good layup. Two good free throws from the Knights put them on top 61-58. Boyer went to the line at :15 and converted 1-1 to bring the Lions within two. Another two good free throws from the Knights put them on top 63-59. With :08 left on the clock Seigafuse hit a three pointer to bring the Lions within one, 63-62. Berkeley hit two free throws at the :06 mark to defeat the Lions 65-62.
The Lions finished out their inaugural season 10-13.
