Box Score Reading, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College men's basketball fell to PSU-Berks, 75-73 in nail biter Saturday afternoon action.
Jihaad Fluellen and Austin Nyekan led the Lions with 15 points each. Joseph Kehoe scored 12 points. Deion Boyer put up 11 points and pulled back nine rebounds.
The Nittany Lions scored two quick three pointers to take a 6-0 lead, until Troy Steed scored a lay up in the paint at 17:23. PSU Berks went on a 8-0 run to take a 16-7 lead at 11:12 in the first. Nyekan responded for Bryn Athyn with a three pointer and two free throws with the help of Steed to bring the Lions within three, 14-17 at 8:48. Nittany Lions responded with a three pointer, but Bryn Athyn came back with back-to-back threes from Fluellen and Nyekan to tie the game at 20-20. Both teams exchanged point and tied the game again at 24-24 with 5:51 left in the half. Bryn Athyn went on a 6-0 run to take a 30-26 lead, but the Nittany Lions came back to bring the game within one going into the break, 31-30.
PSU Berks started the second half on a 8-0 run, until they committed a foul to put Boyer at the line to make two free throws at 16:11. The Nittany Lions kept their offensive pressure, building their lead to seven points, 47-40 at 13:06. Bryn thyn came back with a three pointer by Nyekan, a lay up and free throw by Fluellen to bring the game within one, 47-46 at 10:58. PSU Berks keep their lead, with the Lions right on their heel. The Nittany Lions build their lead back to eight points, but Bryn Athyn's Kehoe answered with two three pointers to bring the game within two. A made free throw by Nyekan, tied the game at 66-66 with 2:18 left in the game. Both teams fight to the end, but late foul trouble and missed shots propel the NIttany Lions over Bryn Athyn 75-73.
