Men's Basketball Falls to SUNY Cobleskill

Bryn Athyn, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College fell to SUNY Cobleskill, 64-47 in NEAC conference play Saturday afternoon at home. 

Damontay Fowler-Thomas led the Lions with 14 points, four rebounds and two assists.  Austin Nyekan scored nine points and three rebounds.  Anthony Wallace scored six points and four rebounds.

Troy Steed started the game with a big drive to the basket and a lay in for two. The Lions defense stopped the play with causing a turnover. Tigers put up their first basket two minutes in.  With both teams tied at 4-4 at 16:11, the Tigers went on a 6-0 run to take a 10-4 lead at 13:03.  Nyekan hit the first three of the night to bring the Lions within three. Cobleskill built their lead to nine points off second chance rebounds and turnovers, 20-11 at 6:38.  The Lions answered with a 9-0 run in three minutes to tie the game at 20-20.  Bryn Athyn battled their way to take an one point lead going into halftime, 26-25.

In the second half, at the ten minute mark the score was 43-37 lead by the Tigers. Nyken planted his fight down the floor, picked up the foul, and changed the possession momentum. Steed was able to the continue the momentum with a hard drive. On the subsequent drive, Troy converted both of the free throws. The Tigers extended their to 14 with 4:23 left in the game.   The Lions tried to battled back into the game, but wasn't enough to catch up with the Tigers.

Bryn Athyn hosts SUNY Poly tomorrow at 2:00 pm in NEAC conference play.
