Men's Basketball fall to Wells 72-51 in NEAC match up

Aurora NY – The men's basketball team traveled north to take on Wells College in NEAC game Saturday afternoon. The Lions were defeated by Wells, 72-51

The Lions were looking to build upon their first victory of the season when they traveled to Wells in a match up of North and South. The Lions and Wells kept the game close for the opening minutes. With the Lions down by 1 at the 16:13 mark, Stephen Tucker hit a three pointer to get the Lions within 1, 9-8. Then 4 consecutive points by James Flagg had the Lions up by 5, 13-8, with 15:10 left. The Lions and Wells kept things close up until the 8:15 mark when Wells outscored the Lions 18 – 9 to close out the first half making the score 37-29 at the end of the half. James Flagg and Deion Boyer had a great first half for the Lions both scoring 10 points to lead the Lions.

The second half had the Lions struggling to cut into Wells 11 point lead. The Lions missed shots and were not able to stop Wells on the fast break, the Lions saw Wells increase their lead by 15 with 15:50 left. Adonis Rosario stopped the Wells run with a lay up at 15:21 in the second making the score 48-35 in favor of Wells. Wells outscored the Lions 17-7 in the first ten minutes of the second half increasing their lead their lead by as much as 20. At 6:41, Rashim Washington came off  the bench and hit a three pointer and then Deion Boyer hit a three pointer to get the lead down to 14, 62-48, with 6:08 left. The Lions were not able to get the lead within reach and fall to Wells, 71-52.

The Lions were led by Deion Boyer with 15 points and James Flagg with 10 points.

The Lions are right back in action on Sunday afternoon at 1pm as they take on Keuka in North Eastern Athletic Conference game.
