Box Score Keuka Park, NY- The men's basketball team looked to have secured their second victory of the year, but a Keuka three pointer to tie the game with six second left in the game change the momentum. In the overtime Keuka 18-7 run in overtime sealed their victory over the Lions 81-70.
The Lions traveled to Keuka today to in their second NEAC game of the weekend. The Lions fell behind early in the half 6-0. Deion Boyer's 6 points led the Lions to tie up the game 8-8 at the 14:19 mark of the first. A Devantae Laws three pointer at the 10:43 mark stopped a Keuka 8 point run to make the score 18-13 in favor of Keuka. Another Devantae Laws three pointer with 6:25 closed Keukas lead to two, 24-22. Keuka went on a 13-4 run to increase their lead by 11, 37-26. Troy Steed and Adonis Rosario added two points each to close out the half and get the Keuka lead to 7, 37-30.
The Lions started the second half able to build on their momentum from the first, closing the lead to two after Deion Boyer 3 pointer 35 seconds into the half. After a James Flagg steal, a Rahim Washington lay up tied the score at 38 with 16:38 left. At 13:18 the Lions took the lead on a great individual effort by Troy Steed when he got to the basket, missed the initial lay up, got his own rebound and made the second attempt for the Lions to go up 44-42. A Deion Boyer three pointer at the 4:57 mark gave the Lions their biggest lead of the day 54-48. Keuka cut the lead to two with on Casey Williams three pointer. With 13 seconds left the Lions lead was one, but Nick Cereby enter the game was able to earn two free throws. Nick Cereby made both free throws to get the Lions lead back to three. Keuka tied the game with six seconds left on a three pointer by Cliff Stevens to send the game into overtime.
In the overtime period Keuka took a six point lead after a James Outlaw three pointer with 3:10 left in OT, 70-64. Keuka continued to build on their lead outscoring the Lions 18-7 throughout the overtime and held for the 81-70.
The Lions were led by Deion Boyer with 20 points. Devantae Laws had 18 points and Troy Steed added 16 points in the heartbreaking loss.
The Lions come back home to host Penn College Thursday January 21st at 6:00 pm at Asplundh Fieldhouse.
