Mens basketball defeated by Penn College 87-77

Bryn Athyn, Pa - The men's basketball team was defeated by Penn College this evening in NEAC action 87-77 tonight at Asplundh Field House. 

The Lions were looking to get back on track after a heartbreaking defeat this past weekend in overtime at Keuka. After falling behind early in the game 13-9, the Lions were able to get back within 1 after a Devantae Laws three pointer, making the score 13-12. The Lions were able to tie up the score a few minutes later at 16 with a Troy Steed put back. Penn College held a 8 point lead 31-23 with 6:43 left in the first. The Lions then went on 14 point run headed by three, three pointers by Devantae Laws. The Lions held a 37-31 lead with 2:53 left. Deion Boyers and Devantae Laws added two more three pointers each to help the Lions close out the half with a 45-39 lead. The Lions shot 50% from beyond the arc in the half, hitting 8 of 16. 

Then in the second half the Lions shooting went cold. The Lions went 0-10 from beyond the arc and shot 36.8% from the field. Penn College shot 54.5% from the beyond the arc and shot 92.3% from the free throw line making 12 of 13 attempts. This would be the difference in the second half and ultimately decided the game. Penn College held on for the 10 point victory 87-77. 

Adonis Rosarios led the Lions in scoring with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Troy Steed and Devantae Laws both added 16 points. Kevin Laurence-El led Penn College in scoring with 22.

The Lions travel to take on Division 1 Princeton on Sunday Janaury 24th at 2:00 pm.
