Lions pick up second victory with 62-49 win over Penn State Abington

Bryn Athyn Pa – The men's basketball team picked up their second victory of the year with a 62-49 victory over Penn State Abington in NEAC play at Asplundh Field House today.

The Lions jumped out to an early 4-0 lead after two Troy Steed made lay ups. The Lions were up 12-3 after a Rahim Washington three pointer. The Lions continued to hold onto the lead for the majority of the half due mainly to their high energy on the defensive end. The lions created 12 turnovers in the half. With 3:28 left in the Abington was able to tie the game after a Devin Jones three pointer. The Lions closed out the half with a 5-0 run to hold a 30-35 lead going into halftime.

Both teams started the half struggling from the field, until Christian Rivera made a lay-up at the 17:55 mark to give the Lions a 33-27 lead. Then Nick Cereby started to light it up from beyond the arc, making two consecutive three pointers at the 11:30 to put the Lions up 41-35. Cereby ignited a 10-0 run, that had the Lions up 48-35 with 7:55 left. The lions extended their lead after Adonis Rosario made a lay-up with 4:20 left. The Lions continued to play great defensively and Deion Boyer was able to close out the game going 5 of 6 from the free throw line.

This was the second win of the season for the Lions. The Lions were led by Nick Cereby with 17 points. Adonis Rosario added 10 points, Rahim Washington and Troy Steed both added 9 points in today's 62-49 victory over PSU Abington.

The Lions are back in action on February 2nd as they host Penn State Berks at 6:00 pm in conference play.
