Men's Basketball falls to Gallaudet 75-56 in conference action

Bryn Athyn, Pa – The Bryn Athyn men's basketball in their first home game of the season fall to Galluadet in conference action on Thursday evening at Asplundh Field House.

Earlier in the first half Galluadet looked to get the ball inside to their big man Joshua McGriff. Joshua scored 8 points early in the quarter to help out the Bison out front Austin Nyekan hit a three pointer for the Lions to make it 7-5 at the 17:32 mark, but the Bisons inside game and the shooting of Troy Gordon was presenting a problem for the Lions. The Lions struggled from the field. Going down by as much as 14 points. At the 9:55 mark after a big defense rebound, Adonis Rosario finished off a fast break with dunk at the other end to get the deficit back to 12. Both teams struggled to put up any points during the next 5 minutes of the half.  A three pointer by Nick Cereby cut the lead to 10, 30-20, with 2:54 left. Then with 1:53 left Troy Steed made a lay-up off a fast break and steal by Deion Boyer to cut the lead to 8. Despite a big lay-up and a made free throw by Troy Steed with :01 on the clock, the Lions went into the half down 36-25. The Lions struggled from the field only shooting 10 of 34.

As the second half started the Lions were hoping to figure out their struggles from the field. The Bison increased their lead by 15 early in the half. At the 17:26 mark Stephan Tucker finished off a 3 point play to get the Lions within 12, 43-31. The Bison increased their lead to 16 but three pointer by Deion Boyer cut the lead to 13 at the 18:13 mark. The Lions picked things up defensively and with 11:15 Deion Boyer hit another three pointer to cut the lead to 11. At 10 minute mark Nick Cereby hit another three pointer to get the lead under double digits. The Lions had the momentum when Christian Rivera made big lay up to cut the lead to six. The Bison increased their lead to 14 with 5:05 left in the half. The Lions could not hold off the Bison as the fell 75-56.

The Bison were led by Joshua McGriff with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Trey Gordon went 5-8 from beyond the arc and added 16 points.

The Lions were led by Troy Steed with 15 points and team high 6 rebounds. Deion Boyer and Austin Nyekan both added 10 points.

The Lions are back in action on Saturday January 9th as they travel to play their third conference game of the year at Penn State Berks.
