Box Score Bryn Athyn Pa. - The Bryn Athyn College men's basketball traveled crosstown to take on rival Penn State Abington in NEAC action on Thursday night. The Lions picked their third straight win and second over PSU Abington with 95-87 overtine victory behind 37 points by Deion Boyer.
In the first six minutes of the game Deion Boyer hit 4 three pointers to give the Lions a 19-10 lead. Abington then ourscored the Lions 14-5 making the score 24-24 with 9:36 left in the half. The Lions went back on top by 6 after Troy Steed finished off a three point play with a lay up and a made free throw. With the lead back to two, 31-29, after an Abington three pointer, Deion Boyer hit his fifth three pointer of the half extending the Lions lead back to five, 34-29. A few minutes later the Lions Devante Laws hit another three increasing the lead to nine, 40-31. The Lions closed out the half with 42-34 lead.
In the second the Lions held a 10 point lead after a Christian Rivera three pointer, 47-37. Abington then chipped away at the Lions lead and eventually taking the 57-56 lead after a Yusef Savage lay up. Deion Boyer then scored 11 straight point for the Lions, capped off by another three pointer at the 8:09 mark, giving the Lions the 65-61 lead. The Lions held a slim lead up until Yusef Savage made two freee throws knotting the game at 76 with 53 seconds left. Both teams missed shots to win the game in the final 53 seconds, taking the game in overtime with the score 76-76.
Austin Nyekan made a statement with a three early in the overtime. The Lions took control of the overtime behind nine points from Deion Boyer. The Lions went onto the 95-87 victory over Penn State Abington.
Deion Boyer led the Lions with a season his 37 points going 6 of 11 from three point range, 10 of 17 from the field and 11 of 11 from the free throw line. Troy Steed added 19 points and Adonis Rosario added 16.
The win was the Lions third straight victory over a conference opponent. The Lions travel to take on NEAC opponent, SUNY Cobleskill on Saturday February 6th.
