How It Happened:
Deion Boyer scored seven straight points along with a lay up from Christian Rivera for Bryn Athyn College as the Lions opened the contest up on for a 9-0 lead. Lancaster Bible College were able to break their scoring drought with a basket but a three pointer from Devante Laws gave the Lions their biggest lead of the game, 12-2. The Chargers fought back into the game and were able to close out the first half with a slight 26-25 advantage.
In the opening second half, Jason Kuntzelman and Austin Nyekan traded two long range shots each for their respective teams but it was the Chargers that sat on top by six, 37-31 after two free throws and another three pointer. When the Lions tied the game at 39-39 (15:14) neither team led by more than six points and it was the Lions who went ahead 59-58 on a basket from Boyer with 90 seconds left to play. When the Chargers split their free throws to tie the game at 59, both teams came away empty handed in the final 56 seconds and an overtime was needed.
The Lions went scoreless in the first four minutes and found themselves behind six points, 65-59. Boyer knocked down a three at the one minute mark to trim the set-back to three, 65-62. After the Chargers scored on a lay up from Quentin Davis (0:28), Kuntzelman made one-of-two free throws for a 68-62 lead with eight seconds to play. Nyekan was able to connect with the final shot with one second remaining, but it would not be enough as the Chargers escape the Lions' wrath with a 68-65 North Eastern Athletic Conference victory.
