Box Score HAVERFORD, Pa. – The first five-game winning streak in the Bryn Athyn College men's basketball team's history will have to wait as the Lions couldn't overcome a season-high 23 turnovers in a 72-58 non-conference loss to Haverford College Wednesday night in Gooding Arena.
Rahim Washington was Bryn Athyn's leading scorer with 14 points, while Lamarr Crenshaw added 13 points and six rebounds. James Flagg contributed eight points and a season- and game-high 11 rebounds.
Trailing 12-10 at the 10:35 mark of the opening half, Washington made a layup to spark a run of seven straight Bryn Athyn (5-3) points that put the Lions up 17-12. Drew Heller knocked down a 3-pointer at 9:58 and Flagg capped the surge with a layup one minute later.
The Flagg bucket led to a Haverford (4-5) 30-second timeout. The Fords came out of the break by scoring 12 of the game's next 14 points to claim a 28-19 advantage with 2:31 left in the half.
Bryn Athyn would get as close as five, but Haverford recorded the half's final two baskets to increase the gap to 32-23 at the intermission.
The start of the second half was all Haverford as the Fords scored the first five points to widen the margin to 37-23 and prompted a Lion timeout. Bryn Athyn responded well to head coach Justin Baxter's talk, bouncing back with eight straight points to pull within 37-31 on a Christian Rivera layup with 15:34 left in the game.
Haverford would put the game away with 12:32 still to play as a 13-5 Ford run gave the home team a game-high 16-point lead (50-34). Jerome Staley got the Lions back within nine with two successful free throw attempts with 4:53 left to make the score 62-53, but the Fords ended the game outscoring the Lions 10-5.
