Men's basketball stumbles at Moravian 87-66

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College men's basketball team returned from its nine-day layoff with an 87-66 loss to host Moravian College on the first day of the Roosevelt's 21st Greyhound Classic Saturday afternoon in Johnston Hall.

The Lions (6-4) had three players score in double figures, led by 14-point performances from Lamarr Crenshaw and Adonis Rosario. Rahim Washington recorded 12 points and seven rebounds.

Christian Rivera filled up the stat sheet with eight points, eight rebounds, eight assists, and two steals.

Bryn Athyn had its best overall shooting performance of the season, making 50.0 percent of its shots (26-of-52). However, the Lions attempted a season-low nine 3-pointers and made four of them. The Lions also shot 10-of-20 from the free-throw line.

The Lions were also undone by a season-high 28 turnovers.

After a closely-contested first five minutes, the host Greyhounds (9-2) went on a 15-2 run over a 4:20 span to open up a 24-10 advantage. With the gap sitting at 33-16, the Lions would get back into the game by outscoring the Greyhounds 15-7 during the final 7:17 of the half to close the deficit to 40-31 at the break. Crenshaw led the charge with six points, while Rosario added five points.

In the second half, Bryn Athyn got as close as seven points when a Rivera layup with 8:31 left in the game made the score 62-55. Moravian ended the game on a 25-11 surge.

Oneill Holder scored a game-high 19 points and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds to pace Moravian—who shot 47.7 percent (31-of-65) from the field, 38.5 percent (15-of-39) from 3-point range). Elijah Davis added 11 points.

Bryn Athyn closes out the calendar year against Lebanon Valley College on Sunday, Dec. 31 at 5:30 at Moravian.
